YouthWrite and Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers hope to create Write to Film a multi-disciplinary five-day filmmaking camp for youth in Calgary and surrounding areas. With guidance from professional writers/actors/filmmakers campers will collaborate to create a short film from concept to screening storyboarding/screenwriting/filming/editing . Emphasis will focus on collective creation and fostering an environment where campers feel safe sharing their ideas and letting loose their inner geek.
Para NB-Sport and Recreation’s goal for this project is to increase the amount of parallel sport and recreation opportunities in schools to ensure all students build the fundamental movement skills and physical literacy to be active for life. The main objectives of our project are to increase access and availability of adaptive equipment and devices through our provincial Equipment Loan Service program for youth within the NB school system.

The Crossroads Community Association Rink Refurbishment Project aims to transform our existing grass rink area into a versatile, all-season sport court, encouraging year-round physical activity and community engagement.
The purpose is to provide potential and current youth curlers with training and evaluation necessary to be successful curlers. The end goal is to grow the sport of curling.
The Youth Access Program is a program for children and youth (ages 5-21) who experience financial, social and/or academic challenges to have access to YMCA recreational sport programs (including ball hockey, karate, basketball, dance, swimming lessons, wrestling, fencing, gymnastics, fencing, water polo, soccer) at no cost. A one year membership allows the child or youth to participate in 4 terms of sports (fall, winter, spring, summer) as well as unlimited access to the pool, gymnasium and fitness centre.
First Tee – Atlantic empowers youth through the game of golf by seamlessly integrating the game with character-building experiences that help uncover inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that they can carry with them to everything they do. First Tee – Atlantic’s Girls “Try Golf” Days provide a fun, inclusive, barrier-free and non-committal entry point to the game to see if it is something young girls want to pursue further.
HEROS hockey provides young people experiencing significant financial, social, physical, and cognitive barriers with free hockey-based mentorship programming focused around four core behaviours; listening, respect, discipline, and having fun. Players are given everything they need to succeed on the ice, including equipment, transport to and from the rink, and healthy snacks, while also being provided with crucial educational and personal development opportunities off the ice as well.
The IRCOM Hockey Project aims to familiarize newcomer children and youth with their initial experiences in skating and hockey, with the overarching objective of cultivating winter sport skills and fostering engagement in physical activities. We strive to extend this opportunity to children who might otherwise be excluded from participating in winter sports due to various challenges faced by refugee families, including trauma, language barriers, prolonged adjustment to life in Canada, and socio-economic obstacles. The program aims to bridge the gap by making hockey and skating accessible to these children and youth, addressing both the novelty of the sports and the multifaceted barriers encountered by refugee families.
The Hockey Fans in the Stands program plans to distributes more than 25,000 hockey tickets estimated $1.8 million in 2024. The Doc Seaman Amateur Sport Grants in supporting this program has become the Canadian leader in removing barriers to access to hockey games for deserving childrenyouthfamilies. Kids Up Front utilizes our established programs, resources and collaborative relationships with donors and venues to ensure all kids have access to live hockey games and hockey events in their community at no cost to the recipients. Kids Up Front is small and flexible, making it easy to develop a partnership that will recognize your Foundation’s community investment and deliver a high impact, collaborative and responsive program.
