Sustainability Project aims to maintain achievements of capacity-building put in place since 2022, develops expertise to lift organization to next level of operational and organizational maturity to advance efficiently its mission in long term by hiring specialized staffing to support black youth with learning difficulties, improving technology with security of eLearning tools, training volunteers to implement micro-projects, creating antiracist committee to advocate for systemic changes in education.

CommunityWise is implementing a staff position to build meaningful programming within our membership, and to support and help foster growth with the grassroots and not for profit members of our organization. This grant will pay for the implementation and execution of long-term educational programming for member organizations.
Contemporary Calgary would like to hire a coordinator to fully activate its newly-renovated theatre space. The Theatre Outreach Coordinator will engage community partners to organize regular programming that supports the broader arts community and aligns with Contemporary Calgary’s mandate. The goal of this position is to maximize the use of the theatre while building relationships that are beneficial to Calgary’s many arts groups. This grant will pay for this term position.
The Empowering Vulnerable Newcomers and Youths program supports Chinese-speaking immigrants and their children in Calgary through career skills training, youth activities, and educational opportunities. It also provides mentorship to help participants overcome community-specific challenges. The Community Grant will fund workshops, career training, educational resources, and mentorship, ensuring impactful services for Calgary’s growing Chinese immigrant population.
The Environmental Law Centre is collaborating with the Alberta Council for Environmental Education to update and improve an existing educational resource designed to teach high school students about Albertas environmental laws. This initiative will reach 20 junior schools and high schools, 250 students, and grassroots environmental leaders that engage local communities in environmental learning in the Calgary area. The grant will pay for staff time to update the resource and engage educators.
The Safe Spaces Project aims to create culturally competent mental health support for Black 2SLGBTQ plus individuals in Calgary. It will provide therapy sessions, group discussions, creative workshops, and activities like yoga, all facilitated by professionals who understand the unique challenges of our community. The grant will help cover the costs of therapy, art supplies, yoga instruction, and the software to run a constant non-crisis support line.
Calgary Queer Arts Society is seeking to hire a Creative Communities Program Lead. The Creative Communities Program Lead would be a new position, whose role would be structured around intergenerational and intersectional approaches to program design and delivery. Goals of this role include the reduction of social isolation for vulnerable 2SLGBTQIA plus community members, building creative community connections, and attempting to interrupt siloed thinking within 2SLGBTQIA plus and adjacent communities.
FearIsNotLove wants to build on the success of Men& to develop digital resources for victims of domestic violence. We combined our crisis line with YW Calgary’s to streamline access to domestic violence services and leveraged the Shelterlink App to give real time availability data to first responders and local shelters. Increasingly, victims who do not need shelter want digital resources to support their safety planning and healing journeys. This grant will pay for digital content creation and delivery.
Gateway aims to embed racial equity within the organization by establishing a framework of accountability structures to address oppression for the BIPOC disability community. The project includes a comprehensive organizational review, active engagement with the BIPOC disability community, creation of guiding documents, capacity building workshops, and sharing our journey and resources. This initiative will equip Gateway to address the unique issues at the intersection of disability and race.
Habitat can serve its client families, donors and stakeholders more efficiently and effectively by updating its accounting system and processes to meet current organizational needs. Habitat has contracted a specialized Consultant to conduct a comprehensive review of current state to identify issues then recommend a new system and processes appropriate for handling current and projected demands for the next 15 years. This grant will pay for Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the project per below.
