Alberta Ecotrust will develop its internal capacity to lead the formation of a robust coalition and advocacy effort to increase government funding, create an Alberta Water Network, and engage key interest holders. The Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) is looking add a full-time permanent Operations Manager to supervise our wildlife rehabilitation program and take over administrative tasks from current senior staff. This role is imperative for our continued operations, as we are about to embark on a major capital project that requires a significant amount of senior staff time. We would like to request funding from the Calgary Foundation to cover one year salary for this position.

Calgary Beauty Business Hub addresses the underrepresentation of racialized women in Calgary’s hair and beauty industry by providing crucial business support and practical training. It helps participants navigate business systems, adapt to Canada’s economy, build networks, and overcome trust barriers that often limit access to resources. The grant will fund services by the Program Coordinator for business support and subject-matter experts for hands-on training in key industry skills.

BGC Foothills Clubs is expanding programs and services in priority Calgary communities. Our primary objective is to enhance evening and weekend programming at the Abbeydale Community Association, providing safe, meaningful, barrier-free, and engaging activities for youth aged 13-18. This grant will fund our programs and facility costs, as well as offset our youth worker’s wages.

The Bragg Creek Trails Association is seeking funding to purchase 56 remote wildlife cameras for a wildlife monitoring project in the West Bragg Creek area of 55 sq. km. The BCTA is initiating this project to collect long-term data on wildlife abundance and movement. This monitoring data will enable us to develop science-based recommendations for trail management, design, construction and public education to promote human-wildlife coexistence between wildlife and WBC trail users.

CCIS and Centre for Sexuality (C4S) are partnering to launch an Organizational Learning and Development Program aimed at advancing internal training capacity for CCIS employees benefitting staff, and ultimately clients. Through a co-facilitation model, CCIS will work with C4S to increase staff knowledge and readiness to design, deliver, and adapt programs with a LGBTQ plus lens. We will also co-develop a course for clients to increase their awareness of LGBTQ plus rights and inclusion in Canada.

The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre (CCCC) will host community events, educational workshops, and recreation programs catered to residents of all ages, but mainly for seniors. CCCC aims to provide a safe, accessible venue where community members can engage in physical activities, foster new friendships, and reconnect with social life after the pandemic. The goal is to provide a free wellness program that is not only enjoyable but also beneficial for physical and mental health.

The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra wants to hire a full-time, salaried Orchestra Personnel Manager (OPM). The primary purpose of this position is to supervise all Musicians and Extras, to ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement; and thus achieving the musical results audiences deserve. The Community Grant would pay for 50 percent of the salary including benefits, CPP and EI and RRSP for the first two years. Currently there is no such role and the Director of Operations does both roles.

SLF would like to launch EQUIP, Calgary’s first community eating disorder clinic, that fills a gap in the ED recovery journey. Individuals would have access to experienced clinicians whose services include personalized treatment plans and referrals to vital community resources, such as therapy, dietitians, medical doctors, and specialized programs. EQUIP will also increase the quality of ED treatment by equipping local clinicians through our newly created advanced ED training modules.

Forestry in the Eastern Slopes has major impacts on water, biodiversity, species at risk, and recreation. Community interest in forestry in the region is growing, but there are significant barriers preventing effective engagement. This project creates compelling tools to provide opportunities for public involvement in forest management, including story maps, interactive maps, in-person activities, an informative social media post series, and educational handouts.
