This grant will be used to install protective coverings over 7 historic stained glass windows at the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer. The Calgary Foundation provided funds 20 years ago to protect 9 large south-facing windows. The need is now for the 7 Chapel windows which have become vulnerable to damage as a result of vandalism.
Skill Builder is an inclusive program series that supports the mental, social, emotional, and physical development of children and youth. Some of this season’s programs include Social Skills Anxiety and Self-Care, Internet Safety and Healthy Habits, Feelings and Self-Regulation and more. This grant would be used to help purchase new tablets and Smartboards for our multi-purpose rooms to aid in their learning.
FESA will launch its Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver its eLearning programs and trainings. This initiative will build our internal capacity to manage the LMS. increasing its viability and expanding our reach to low-literate learners and the agencies that support them. The grant will be used to hire a HR Consultant to create eLearning policies and procedures; an eLearning Consultant to advise assist and oversee the launch of the LMS; and an LMS Developer to train staff.
PCC is expanding the MAN VAN prostate cancer early detection initiative by integrating a clinical pathway and engagement strategy focused on Indigenous communities. Recent data shows a higher prevalence of advanced disease among Indigenous men. Follow-up services will be expanded to guide high-risk men every step of the way to make sure they follow through with care and do not have to navigate the health-care system alone. This grant will support operational and wrap-around clinic care costs.
SAIT will implement the Indigenous Student Housing Program ISHP . The ISHP will offer safe affordable housing on SAIT’s campus with the purpose of reducing isolation, undue systemic burdens and financial barriers for Canadian Indigenous students. The ISHP will increase community and cultural connections to promote a sense of belonging on SAIT’s campus to support enrollment retention and completion rates for SAIT’s Canadian Indigenous Students.
Trades Guild has seen a steady increase in demand for our program from organizations such as the Mustard Seed Dream Centre and refugee support groups. In order to allow us to increase our capacity to serve additional apprentices, we require a journeyman who can assist with teaching and mentoring additional apprentices. To attract a quality journeyman, having a stable two year funding period will allow Trades Guild to continue working towards a more self-sustaining model is critical.
This initiative will empower grassroots and social organizations within Calgary’s African diaspora to establish programs that address mental health trauma and resilience using Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) principles. The aim is to create new capacity for ABCD programming and mental health outcomes by embedding community leaders into Umoja’s programming empowering them with the tools and resources to address their communities, mental health challenges from an ABCD perspective.
Poverty alleviation – Impacting Food Insecurity by serving those challenged with housing insecurity financial insecurity and disabilities. Improve food security for vulnerable individuals /seniors/families in Foothills County by providing access to food packages with dietary restrictions considered. Improve the nutritional and mental health of low-income seniors persons with disabilities and individuals and families experiencing mental health related concerns.
