Having obtained accreditation in 2017, the Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens’ Association (CCECA) has consistently emphasized succession planning as a crucial requirement. The goal of this project focuses on crafting CCECA a more robust succession plan covering the Executive Director and the leadership roles, incorporating comprehensive development plans for its successors, and proactively engaging both the board and the workforce to strategically build its capacity and position CCECA for future success.
In consultation with the non profit sector, government and educational institutions, #NotInMyCity (#NIMC) identified a gap in defining and maintaining consistent and updated human trafficking and sexual exploitation data to understand the depth of the issue, build a sector unified strategy and create best in class education tools. As law enforcement evolves, there is a critical need to ensure their data reflects the increased activity in sexual exploitation. With support, NIMC will engage an external expert to research and update existing data, asses current data capacity and build a data roadmap providing a sustainable data management, and to share updated data with our community response model and provincial network partners.
ACEE is developing a Green Careers Initiative where youth will receive mentoring resources and information on sustainability energy and environmental careers.This initiative aims to support young people’s transition into green careers to help meet the City of Calgary’s Climate Strategy Economic Resilience and the 2030 National -Net-Zero target while addressing the future skills gap. The grant will enable ACEE to hire the necessary staff to implement key program activities and outcomes.
The Water Connections project is designed to fill informational gaps regarding water’s vital role in our community. We will provide opportunities for students families and the public to explore engaging connections between us ecosystems that surround us and our water resources using interactive online maps videos articles and games. This grant will go towards the staff and contractor expenses to carry out research, development publication, and promotion of this content.
At the request of a Canmore high school the Future Leaders program will pilot an environmental course and action projects. Students will learn and apply their knowledge to renewable energy conservation and circular economy projects. The course resources will be online, shared at teacher conferences and offered to southern Alberta schools and educators. Requested funding will pay for staff time, honorariums, community celebration event project materials, videographer and conference expenses.

We are looking to retrofit the building with Internet ports in each of our 85 self-contained units, ensuring every family who needs to access our services can rely on subsidized and consistent Internet for the duration of their term with us. This vital update will ensure women and children are able to connect learn grow and heal online.
BLFA is looking to create a culturally inclusive food security program to address the pressing issue of food insecurity while upholding dignity in assistance efforts within newcomers from the African descent in Calgary. The program’s core involves the development and distribution of food hampers, emphasizing the sourcing of culturally inclusive and nourishing food items from local vendors ensuring that individuals in need have access to a consistent supply of culturally appropriate food.
The Calgary John Howard Society wishes to employ a second Restorative Justice Facilitator to expand its restorative justice community programs; helping youth and adults involved in and affected by crime. The additional position will address the 160 percent increase in demand from 2021 to 2023 experienced by the Restorative Solutions To Conflict program. Through facilitated sessions victims offenders families supporters and community members will address harm and repair damage caused by crime.
The Canadian Rockies Youth Network CRYN is a venture between CPAWS Southern Alberta and The Howl Experience leveraging their education engagement and conservation expertise. It engages youth in park and public land management addressing ecological and cultural aspects leading to more sustainable ecosystems and communities. This year, the program expands to offer mentorship involving CRYN youth with junior high and University-aged participants.
This project will build a replacement accessibility ramp at the Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program, HELP, which loans more than 20 000 pieces of free by-donation medical equipment to nearly 10 000 mostly-senior, fixed-income clients each year. The existing ramp is dangerously steep lacks safety railings or grippy cement and does not meet current building safety codes. There are 2 years remaining on the current lease and we have a 5-year renewal option that we will unequivocally renew.
