The goal of this project is to provide all youth the opportunity to train and learn the skills necessary to be successful curlers in a fun and nurturing environment. As a result of last years grant, we were able to encourage new curlers to our sport. We will run an after school program for school curlers and a Friday evening session for youth from Kindergarten to grade 12.

With a reference from the Calgary Flames Foundation, RCX Sports contact us in 2023 to facilitate a street hockey league. We facilitated two successful programs in Falconridge and Braeside. There were no fees for this program and each participant received a hockey jersey. We had volunteers from the Calgary Police Service and the community. This program is an excellent opportunity for youth to have an opportunity to play the game and learn about community volunteerism.

HEROS hockey provides young people experiencing significant financial, social, physical, and cognitive barriers with free hockey-based mentorship programming focused around four core behaviours; listening, respect, discipline, and having fun. Players are given everything they need to succeed on the ice, including equipment, transport to and from the rink, and healthy snacks, while also being provided with crucial educational and personal development opportunities off the ice as well.

UBC Okanagan is committed to enhancing youth engagement through the Nunavut Volleyball Territorial Championships an development clinics. This initiative not only aims to expand participation in a territorial championship by including four more communities, increasing participation from 25 to 29 communities, but also fosters community building through amateur sport and excellence in leadership. By bringing UBCO varsity athletes and coaches to K-12 schools, we will offer sport clinics that inspire youth to explore new sports and refine their volleyball skills. Additionally, follow-up visits in the fall will provide further training for coaches and youth athletes, ensuring continued development and support for young athletes across Nunavut.

Technological advances are transforming the world of work. This includes how people engage in career exploration, skill mapping, and job search. With new AI tools emerging and job competition increasing, job seekers and support agencies must understand how to leverage these tools to support effective career transitions. Our proposed initiative will allow Prospect to pilot an AI-driven career platform with 200 participants, evaluating how such tools can support the employment success of clients.

The Calgary Family Therapy Centre is seeking funding to improve the comfort of its therapy spaces for individuals with sensory sensitivities. The Centre plans to install magnetic light covers featuring calming images, such as clouds and trees, to reduce the harshness of the current fluorescent lighting. This grant will pay for the purchase and installation of these sensory-friendly light covers, enhancing the therapeutic environment for clients.

Inside Out Theatre will host a year of Creative Placemaking events and programs, centered around their new venue The Erratics Indie Arts Club, imbuing the space and neighborhood with notions of belonging, inter-dependence, and vibrancy.

By leveraging ACORNs strength in outreach, civic engagement, and leadership development within tenant communities, Calgary Tenants Engaged will work to combat civic disengagement among Calgary tenants and bring underrepresented voices into critical policy debates in the city.

The NHFY supports East African youth, ages 13 to 30, especially Ethiopians and Eritreans in academics and wellness. It aims to provide employment opportunities for students, teachers and youth volunteers and increase the student to tutor ratio to benefit students. For newcomers, this supports their academic journey, helping dispel limiting beliefs about their cognitive capability. The grant will fund 2 part time staff, 2 casual youth natural wellness workers, and event logistics.
