Umoja Community Mosaic aims to create a vital communications strategy and community relations plan. This endeavor is crucial for expanding our reach and strengthening connections with underserved communities especially low-income newcomers. The grant will enable us to effectively convey our mission, engage a wider audience, and build lasting relationships with both the communities we serve and our valued community stakeholders.

URSA is expanding our day program services in Calgary opening the first day program in Airdrie and launching a new drop-in respite Club House model for individuals with disabilities. All individuals are currently on the provincial waitlist and are not yet receiving services through the government due to system capacity issues. This grant will go towards purchasing furniture and specialized adaptive equipment needed to serve these individuals in a community setting through this expansion.

The Community Upliftment: Food Security and Beyond program an expansion of our Hope for Kids Canada initiated by WHA is designed to enhance food security for 300 low-income families in Calgary per year with food hampers and gift cards. The expanded program will include cultural food to our hampers. This Grant will be use for HR admin, space, and evaluations programs. We believe in healthy, culturally apt food as a human right fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion for Canadians and newcomers.

YouthWrite and Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers hope to create Write to Film a multi-disciplinary five-day filmmaking camp for youth in Calgary and surrounding areas. With guidance from professional writers/actors/filmmakers campers will collaborate to create a short film from concept to screening storyboarding/screenwriting/filming/editing . Emphasis will focus on collective creation and fostering an environment where campers feel safe sharing their ideas and letting loose their inner geek.

Para NB-Sport and Recreation’s goal for this project is to increase the amount of parallel sport and recreation opportunities in schools to ensure all students build the fundamental movement skills and physical literacy to be active for life. The main objectives of our project are to increase access and availability of adaptive equipment and devices through our provincial Equipment Loan Service program for youth within the NB school system.

The goal of this project is to provide youth with opportunities to engage in soccer and cricket sessions, fostering physical and social development while promoting a sense of unity and inclusivity within the community.

The Crossroads Community Association Rink Refurbishment Project aims to transform our existing grass rink area into a versatile, all-season sport court, encouraging year-round physical activity and community engagement.

The purpose is to provide potential and current youth curlers with training and evaluation necessary to be successful curlers. The end goal is to grow the sport of curling.

The Youth Access Program is a program for children and youth (ages 5-21) who experience financial, social and/or academic challenges to have access to YMCA recreational sport programs (including ball hockey, karate, basketball, dance, swimming lessons, wrestling, fencing, gymnastics, fencing, water polo, soccer) at no cost. A one year membership allows the child or youth to participate in 4 terms of sports (fall, winter, spring, summer) as well as unlimited access to the pool, gymnasium and fitness centre.

First Tee – Atlantic empowers youth through the game of golf by seamlessly integrating the game with character-building experiences that help uncover inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that they can carry with them to everything they do. First Tee – Atlantic’s Girls “Try Golf” Days provide a fun, inclusive, barrier-free and non-committal entry point to the game to see if it is something young girls want to pursue further.
