ARPA hosts an Indigenous Circle of Support for Indigenous Elders that is led by Dr. Reg Crowshoe and Rose Crowshoe. Part of this work has included multiple engagement sessions with the group that consists of about 25 multi-nation Indigenous Elders from the Treaty 7 area. To date: the Elders have formed a registered non-profit, the Elders Knowledge Circle Society. This non-profit includes the paralleling of mainstream practices, like leadership selection, with Indigenous oral knowledge systems. The grant is to provide core support of $75,000/year for 2 years.
The CDLI, a grassroots network housed within Carya, builds capacity in community leaders and builders to take action for the collective good. Calgary Foundation partners with United Way and Calgary FCSS to support this initiative. We believe that CDLI’s work supports the conditions for people from diverse backgrounds to feel capable of inspiring change in their communities. With a wealth of local resources, knowledge and experience, CDLI provides a welcoming and inclusive space to gather community-minded people working toward a socially equitable future, to build relationships and partnerships that support community building across Calgary and beyond. The grant is to support the CDLI for 3 years at $55,000/yr.
