Ruth’s House is looking to expand the HOME AWAY FROM HOME Healing Program for residents the shelter and members of the community fleeing violence to access cultural support to heal from the trauma of abuse. The grant will support capacity building to expand the program and provide materials administration and support to foster healing for the community.

Green Calgary is seeking funding for a new website. Currently there is limited ability to add and update information on the existing website as well as the platform hosting it is very old and prone to issues. A new website hosted on WordPress will offer staff flexibility in updating and communicating with current and potential clients, increase online booking capacity, be visually more engaging, and ensure the momentum Green Calgary has build over the last 2 years continues.

Hakili Community’s ‘Yes We Code’ initiative aims to grow its tech education program in Phase 2. This includes adding robotics improving the curriculum and introducing specialized tracks. They also want to involve the community ensure sustainability and promote inclusivity. The grant will help fund these enhancements including strengthening the program and creating a parent engagement app.

Eight months after the first families moved into our downtown affordable housing project, Neoma, with the diverse population and downtown location we have encountered some unique challenges and opportunities to improve the building’s housing model to remediate unexpected safety issues such as drug dealing gang activity etc. We are proposing having a 24/7 concierge model for the front desk in the lobby where the concierge will ensure all guests, visitors, contractors etc. sign in and out.

International Avenue Arts and Culture Community’s mandate is to support arts and cultural initiatives in Greater Forest Lawn. The organization has been an arts mover and shaker in East Calgary since 2001. The organization is inclusive and diverse serving the communities of Greater Forest Lawn. Fostering a creative place where everyone can feel included. Current programming includes: Artist In Residency Program Resident Artist Program Artist Led initiatives, Art Hives and community workshops.

Leftovers is planning to design and pilot a program to safely and effectively rescue surplus food from hotels, restaurants and other large-scale catering services. At present, most of this edible food enters the organic waste stream when it could be used to increase food access for Calgarians facing chronic and crisis hunger. This grant will fund the pilot’s design, launch and evaluation, and support program adaptation and expansion following the pilot phase.

Leighton Art Centre LAC seeks funding to build capacity and support Art and Nature Programming. This grant will go toward renting and servicing year-round washrooms while we raise funds for permanent facilities. Year-round washrooms will improve existing audience experience allow development of new programs and communities and will improve accessibility for staff volunteers and program participants. This grant will significantly impact our ability to continue to grow and build capacity.

Lougheed House is looking to upgrade communications and data tracking tools in order to expand its reach as a community hub. By establishing a more effective online presence and member database, the goal will be to support growth in memberships, community outreach, and community partnerships. This grant will go towards design and implementation of an upgraded website and a new customer records management system.

MEOW Foundation is looking for funding support to develop build and launch a new website to meet the growing needs of the organization and to help Calgary’s cats and the people who love them. The new website will improve and simplify access to our core programs, upgrade efficiencies, and enhance communications, education and knowledge-sharing. This grant will pay for the consultant costs to develop and launch the new website.

A community based needs analysis, funded by the Calgary Foundation, identified gaps and opportunities in palliative care in the Bow Valley. If successful this new funding will enable PCSBV to expand its palliative care navigation programs and services to address some of these gaps working with our partners and to better serve the growing needs of our community. This expansion will require an increase in volunteers and with it building greater capacity to manage these volunteers and clients.
