Foothills Land Trust is seeking 24 months of funding to support the Regional Land Trusts Alberta RLTA collaborative an alliance of Alberta’s six regional land trusts who come together to discuss and act on issues of common concern then speak with a common voice. Funding would support provision of professional and consistent facilitation, emerging issue research, community-wide research/facilitation and preparation for Performance Assurance assessments.
The Trails For Tomorrow Enhancing Kananaskis Country Trail Stewardship project will build on the strengths of the Trail Care program, our volunteer base and in-depth knowledge of Kananaskis Country by expanding our trail assessment and maintenance capacity to improve recreation trails in the increasingly popular Kananaskis East region. This will provide more volunteer opportunities reduce environmental impacts and enhance the Kananaskis East experience and enjoyment of Albertans and visitors.
Roughly three years ago, GRPF took over Glenbow Ranch’s vegetation management program from Alberta Parks. While this financial burden has been a challenge, it has also allowed us to expand this program to include more public education, bird and wildlife surveys and volunteer supported initiatives like our rangeland sustainability project and our efforts to fight erosion near waterways. We are requesting funding to support the seasonal employee in charge of this program for a 2 year period.
The HRPAF’s Summer Series at The Venue is expanding to 4 months of programming. The future trajectory of our operational plans are to move to year round programming once the purpose-built capital project is complete. Currently we are excited to host our Concert Series providing 4 months of public performances totalling up to 20 events including our audio engineering mentorship program and our Gallery Series and Reconciliation work will grow to will include 3 art installations and 3 events.
This program builds on IS’s model to create a program where youth have the opportunity to learn the history and legacy of the colonization of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Our intention is to deliver the truth and work towards reconciliation by weaving Indigenous ways of knowing connecting and doing to create a program that values Indigenous knowledge systems stories/cultures and challenges youth to develop critical skills that contribute to a more equitable inclusive and decolonized society.
This project will build on the success of Phase I and its success in supporting Calgary s passing of its Climate Strategy. Phase II will focus on ensuring this Strategy is implemented. Through workshops and coaching this project will build the capacity of leaders to work across the diversity in our city and province to collectively advocate for the Implementation of the Calgary Climate Change Strategy as well as the development of a complementary provincial strategy.
Kerby Centre’s Food Security Program provides low-income seniors with regular access to free food and additional resources while also opening opportunities for social connections and access to vital support systems to help lift them out of poverty. This program aims to take a holistic approach to food insecurity by proving seniors with access to food along with integrating overarching supports related to mental health financial assistance community building and overall poverty reduction.
This project’s focus is to work with vulnerable young parents and infants to improve mental health increase resources support early development and set the stage for healthy attachment. The parent infant relationship team utilizes a multi-pronged approach including community capacity building, home visits, 1:1 support; assessment, and interventions to strengthen the critical relationship between infants up to the age of three and their caregivers.
Making Treaty 7 is building an online streaming service of Indigenous arts and culture along with teachings from Indigenous Elder and educators. This will be accessible on a subscription basis and provide educational tools for teachers, communities and the general public.
Talking Taxes is a new 2-year program to increase the rate Indigenous people filing taxes so they can access the benefits they are entitled to and improve their financial wellbeing. This is an inclusive, culturally-based tax filing and benefits navigation program designed with and for Indigenous people. The program is a training, mentorship and knowledge-sharing initiative empowering Treaty 7 Nations with the capacity to execute community-driven tax filing and myth-busting programs
