In 2014, the Shared Intake and Referral Program was created to coordinate intakes for all second-stage domestic violence shelters in Calgary: Discovery House, Brenda Strafford Foundation Heart Home Network and Sonshine Community Services. This program ensures a single point of contact for clients, allows them to share their stories only once, creating a common referral path from emergency shelters into longer-term transitional housing. Due to the evolving scope of the program and the current housing crisis, an external strategic review is needed to determine the efficacy, relevance, and impact of the Shared Intake Program. The resulting evidence will be used to inform continuous improvement and adaptations, or changes, as required.
