To support a matching grant of up to $10,000/year for 2 years; the funds will be directed to USAY’S programs.

Helping Hands currently offers 10 volunteer based programs to our community, filling gaps in community services, and meeting unmet human needs for our clients. With increasing population, changing demographics, difficult economic conditions, and an aging population, our programs are in high demand, and pushing the limits of Helping Hands’ capacity. A successful Helping Hands Community Programs grant will alleviate some of the stress of the increasing operating costs.

We will provide a transformational learning experience for local and regional choirs building relationships & community. Festivals like this do exist in Alberta. The first Western Canada choral festival it will be THE festival of the future. Providing immersive choral education for singers from Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan by world-class experts. We have the reputation & acumen to attract global leaders benefitting the choral community ensuring high caliber choral music continues.

The play, New Blood deals with the issue of the impact of residential schools on First Nations children and adults. The request is for funds to support a production of New Blood in the Jack Singer Concert Hall on June 14, 2023; bringing together the cast of New Blood and the musicians of the Calgary Civic Symphony in a major public presentation of the play. The intention of the organizers is that any return from the presentation go to charities supporting residential school survivors.
