Volunteers program a fun community day to help neighbours meet and to identify community priorities
The Arena’s goal is to replace the aging ice plant to ensure the long-term reliability of the vital community asset while considering the impacts which the facility has on the environment. The ice plant currently in its 43 year of operation which has well exceed its recommended life span of 25 yrs and qualified contractor’s recommend replacement before it fails. While also meeting reliability, the Arena can continue to invest in equipment upgrades which have less impacts on the environment since the current refrigerant used in the ice plant has been proven to have harmful effects it has on the ozone layer when released. The Arena provides an import role within the community to provide a place to meet and interact.
To build relationships with CPS and youth in diverse and marginalized communities, incl newcomers, & facilitate belonging, using beloved sport of hockey as conduit.
We are resurfacing our 3 outdoor tennis courts, which are 10 years old and past due.
This project aims to create a safe, inclusive and fun learning environment for persons with disabilities to participate in snowsports through the use of adaptive equipment and one on one lessons with specially trained volunteers.
PCSBV is a community-focused charity that helps improve the experience for individuals in the Bow Valley as they navigate the palliative care journey following the diagnosis of a life limiting illness. This project will connect with different parties involved in this journey – including people with a life limiting diagnosis, their care givers and support network, health care providers and medical professionals, and other non-profits – to determine what is already in place, where there are gaps, overlap and potential for partnership. The findings will be shared with the broader community to improve understanding, aid navigation and identify future programs and services for PCSBV and others as well as collaboration and partnerships.
The goal of the Sandy Beach Pickleball Court Project is to enhance integrated play and sport opportunities for people with disabilities and the wider Calgary community; to advance the inclusive and increasingly popular sport of pickleball in Calgary; and to introduce a sport amenity to the highly valued area of Sandy Beach Park.
The George Moss Park Sports Court project will transform an underutilized green space in Ogden, SE Calgary, into an active and vibrant park with multi-use sports courts, ice skating surfaces, gathering areas and public art, that brings the community together and encourages active living in an environment that is accessible and welcoming for the entire community, regardless of age, background or financial status.
Bullying, maltreatment and abuse have become the most widespread threats to sport participation in Canada and underscores the pressing need for Dare to Care to continue with the development, expansion, and delivery of their comprehensive, practical and systemic approach to bully prevention in amateur sports.
Canadian Blind Hockey will build off of the success of the Inaugural 2022 Girls & Women’s Blind Hockey Summit, and keep up the momentum in growing the women’s side of the Para sport by hosting an expanded Second Girls & Women’s Blind Hockey Summit as well as the world’s first-ever Women’s Blind Hockey Series!
