This initiative aims to reimagine AARCS’ approach to sustainability, revenue generation, and long-term resilience, ensuring that the organization not only survives these turbulent times but thrives well into the future. The organization is approaching a critical lease renewal, compounded by the rapidly changing landscape in the charitable and animal welfare sectors, AARCS seeks to embark on a planning initiative to re-create the roadmap for sustained impact in the face of the current extraordinary circumstances. This will help AARCS align its resources with its mission, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance its capacity to meet community needs.

The goal of this project is to engage in phase one of a multi-stage program focused on staff culture, leadership, and training aimed towards enhancing the internal culture and team cohesion at Calgary Seniors’ Resource Society. This phase/project involves Lumina Spark training and team-building exercises for 30 staff members, and aims to address change fatigue, improve communication, and foster better collaboration among staff. By strengthening our internal dynamics, we seek to create a more effective and supportive team. This will directly benefit our seniors by ensuring high-quality, consistent services, and ultimately supports our mission to empower and enrich their lives.

With a newly appointed treasurer, Elephant Artist Relief (EAR) aims to enhance the clarity of its financial statements and streamline processes. Improved documentation will support EAR’s succession plans, create step-by-step guides, ensure future leadership can continue the mission, and strengthen relationships within the arts community. By working with a professional accountant, EAR seeks to improve the readability and accessibility of its financial reports, ensuring they meet industry standards and are easily understood by new board members and funders. This project will foster trust in EAR’s stewardship, create internal efficiencies, and promote sustainability, positioning EAR for long-term growth and impact.

The GRAND conducted a comprehensive listening exercise in the spring of 2024, revealing a strong demand for affordable venues among artists and arts organizations. In response, The GRAND seeks to explore a resident company model to provide a permanent home for these groups. The project will engage interested artists and organizations through a facilitated workshop to gather feedback on their needs, preferences and the parameters necessary to create a mutually beneficial arrangement. By involving the community in this dialogue, The GRAND aims to develop a sustainable model that supports both the artistic community and the theatre’s financial goals.

After 5 years of board transitions, staff transitions, and a pandemic, the Board of Directors for Adult Recreational Choirs (ARC) has identified the necessity of a complete review of the organization’s governance and operational policies in order to stabilize the board and the organization, build membership confidence in its leadership, and set the organization up for success moving forward.

Six years ago, the Lead Team at AAFS received training in effective communication, how to speak and how to listen. Half of that team are no longer with AAFS and the Lead Team is now comprised of seven (7) staff with four (4) being new to leadership roles. The original training had a positive impact on the Lead Team. AAFS needs a Lead Team that can effectively and confidently communicate within the team, the organization, with members, families, and the greater community.
