Retired CFO and Energy Senior Executive
Ivor Ruste retired effective April 30, 2018, from his role as EVP & Chief Financial Officer of Cenovus Energy Inc. Prior to the creation of Cenovus in November 2009, Ivor was Chief Risk Officer at EnCana, where he started his energy industry career in 2006. Prior thereto, he was the Managing Partner of the Edmonton office of KPMG LLP and served as Vice Chair of the KPMG Canada Board of Directors.
Ivor has been active in several business, community, and professional endeavors, including 10 years serving as a director and audit committee chair for Stantec Inc., as well as six years as Governor for the Board of the University of Alberta and three years on the Board of Governors for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Ivor also served on the CICA’s Risk Oversight Governance Board, the Audit Committee for the Province of Alberta and the Alberta chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization.
Ivor has been active in the community with several organizations including The United Way Capital Region, Edmonton Symphony Foundation, the Board of Governors for Grant MacEwan College, The Support Network Board of Directors, and the University of Alberta Alumni Association Council.
Ivor has a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction from the University of Alberta and was named a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant in 2006. He is also a graduate of the ICD-Rotman Directors Education program and earned the ICD.D designation in 2021.
